Don Manvel, new CEO of Unycom, has been awarded the Gold Merit Decoration of the Republic of Austria. The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan was the perfect setting for the awards ceremony in which Consul General Thomas Schnoell awarded Don Manvel for his distinctive services to the Republic of Austria.

Don becomes ambitious when it comes to motivating young people being creative. He already has enabled many Austrians to spend time working in the United States in order to gain and exchange know-how with their US colleagues. He has also initiated the academic collaboration between Austrian universities and academic institutions in his home state.

Following his motto “innovation knows no boundaries” Don willingly uses his strong network for supporting Austrian initiatives in the United States. Therefore, within Austrian economic and business elite Don has become well known as a passionate enabler who proactively encourages the US-Austrian collaboration.

“I love Austria and being awarded by the Austrian Republic for my efforts is a great honor to me”, commented Don Manvel the ceremony. He added that he would use this award as motivation to continue his involvement in joint activities of Austria and the United States.

A number of honored guests attended the award ceremony, including Mr. Christian Buchmann, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs and Innovation, European Affairs and Culture of Styria, Mr. Franz Roessler, Austrian Trade Commissioner, and Ms. Kathryn List, Chairman of the Board at AVL Cultural Foundation.
