Simplifying and optimizing internal processes and reducing the paper load
Internal processes had to be analyzed and reconsidered in order to eliminate superfluous process steps and make the daily work of IP employees both more appealing and more efficient.
Thousands of paper files had to be replaced by electronic files, and paper documents had to be scanned and imported into the system. Electronic filing was to replace paper filing, whenever possible.
The different requirements of the patent department and the trademark and design department of PSA had to be carefully coordinated, in order to meet the needs of all future system users.
Improved docketing and communication
More than 70,000 documents have been imported to the Unycom system each year. This was made possible by the intelligent scanning feature available in the Unycom solution.
The efficient assignment and completion of tasks are now facilitated by some 130 types of time limits that have been configured and tailored to the needs of the PSA patent department – this makes overall about 40,000 time limits that are handled each year.
The e-filing interface for French patent applications helped PSA become one of the top users of EPO’s online filing services. Paper filing was almost eliminated.
The Unycom system has contributed to a large increase in productivity and efficiency.
